It was on Easter Sunday March of 1964 that a group of believers gathered together in order to organize a country church. This group of faithful Christians assembled at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Colon Bridges and began preparations for Morris Memorial Baptist Church with nine original members. In May of 1964 the members of Morris Memorial began holding services in the old R.L. Morris Sr. residence; there were twenty-five present for this first service. The members of the church continued to hold services in the R.L. Morris residence until the construction of the new church building was completed on land donated by Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Morris.
